The next Rucks Pit Crystal Clam Festival is scheduled for March 19–21, 2026. This unique event allows the public to dig for world-famous calcite crystal-lined fossil clams at the original Rucks Pit quarry in Okeechobee, Florida.
Event Details
- Dates: Thursday, March 19 through Saturday, March 21, 2026.
- Location: The original Rucks Pit Quarry at 5605 NE 304th St, Okeechobee, FL 34972.
- Activities: Participants can dig their own fossil clams using hand tools like rakes and trowels provided by the staff. Professional staff are on-site to assist with digging, washing, and preparing specimens.
- The Fossils: These are unique Mercenaria permagna clams that have been naturally filled with brilliant golden calcite crystals over millions of years.
Pricing & Registration
- Cost: The standard event fee is $350 per person, per day. Kids $250
- Inclusions: This fee covers one 5-gallon bucket of fossils you find.
- Additional Costs: Extra buckets are $300 each, and large matrix pieces are $4.00 per pound.
